Special People Honored at Our Lady of Peace

Students welcome their favorite people in annual event.

Special people of all ages visited classrooms, listened to songs and speeches, wore special heart badges, and enjoyed refreshments this past Thursday afternoon, at in Lynbrook. This was the annual Special People Day celebration, hosted by the school in the month of February for students in Kindergarten through third grade.

After a visit to the students' classroom, the special people — parents, grandparents, or older siblings — proceeded to the gymnasium for a welcome, a program of songs, a slide show of the school, and then light refreshments of plates of cookies and chilled bottled water.

Once the audience and students had assembled in the gymnasium, all four grades (K-3) sang the tune "A New Day." The kindergarteners then sang "Big Dreams," followed by the first graders singing "I'm Gonna Be." The second graders then sang "The Future Begins With Us," and the third graders performed "Don't Ever Give Up." Next, the lights were dimmed and together, the special people and students watched a slide show of the Our Lady of Peace School students in the classrooms. The finale was the students of all four grades joining together to sing "It's My Journey."
