Turf Field on Target for September

Open meeting tonight to discuss installation plans with Plainview JFK neighbors

Progress is continuing on plans to install a state-of-the-art turf field at Plainview JFK High School in time for the fall sports season.

Oyster Bay town officials have told the Plainview's Board of Education that the turf field is on schedule for installation during the summer and is expected to be completed by the beginning of September, school officials said.

"I am so excited about the opportunities a turf field will bring to the community," said superintendent of Plainview's schools.

The district is holding a special meeting Wednesday night at 7:30 to discuss the new field with the high school's neighbors and to get their input, Lewis said. The turf field will replace a natural grass surface at the existing high school football/soccer field.

Tonight's meeting, to be held at the district's Administration Office adjoining Mattlin Middle School, is open to the public.

arent there more important items that the school district needs other than a state of the art turf field.

This field is being paid for by the town so school district resources are not being diverted from anything else. The field will benefit the school and the residents of POB especially our youth athletes . It will be great to have a field we are proud of. Thank you TOB!

Alice, Why shouldn't our kids have better, look at Bethpage and the field they have. What the kids need is longer school hours. A new modern field adds some respect and pride to our town. Hell we pay enough to live here, we should have what everyone else has as well.

Well said. Couldn't agree more!
