The night of inductions began with the Math Honor Society, with advisor Louise Scanlon, inducting 22 students. Sarah Craig, vice president, and Michelle Nevarez, secretary, presented the parents in attendance with what they described as “the most challenging problem” in mathematics, telling them that anyone who answered the question correctly becomes an honorary member of the North High School Math Honor Society.

The night continued with the Language Honor Society. Each of the 40 bilingual inductees said their pledge in the language they excelled in, either Italian or Spanish.

Parents and family members had the pleasure to witness a science experiment performed by Pasquale Alessi, the advisor of the Science Honor Society, who dedicated it to the “Teacher in Space,” Christa McAuliffe, and others that were lost in the Challenger explosion.  A total of 27 students were inducted in the Science Honor Society.

The Career and Technical Education Honor Society had 17 new inductees this year. Students that were inducted into this honor society excelled in classes that encompassed business, family and consumer science and technology.

Twenty-one talented students were inducted into the Tri-M National Music Honor Society, which delighted the audience with a performance.

Finally, the National Honor Society, one of the most prestigious honor societies in the country, welcomed 50 new students, who had demonstrated leadership, scholarship, service to the community and good character.

Trizano and the advisors of all the honor societies expressed their pride for all the hard working  students at Valley Stream North, and offered their congratulations. To see the complete list of names of the students inducted into each of the honor societies, click on the document to the right.
