Waverly Park Celebrates Ecology Week

Students use the power of learning to propel a successful week.

Literature was the vehicle for learning as Lynbrook's Waverly Park School
celebrated Ecology Week.

Learning activities for students in grades 1-2 focused on Dr. Seuss' "The Lorax."

Students in grades 3-4 used their reading of "And Still the Turtle Watched" by Sheila MacGill-Callahan as a springboard for discussion.

Fifth graders used the Reading A-Z book series to learn about the factors that affect our atmosphere and contribute to global warming.

At the end of the week, the entire student body gathered together for a culminating assembly entitled "Earthcapades," an environmental vaudeville act that encouraged students to "reduce, reuse, recycle and respect the environment."
