Waverly Park Hosts 'Little Doctors' Blood Drive

Story by Rosemary Leonetti:

The entire fifth-grade class rolled up their sleeves to help the student council at Lynbrook’s Waverly Park School organize the annual Little Doctors Blood Drive.

Students prepared for weeks, soliciting volunteers and creating flyers to promote the event.

On the big day, fifth-graders, dressed in hospital scrubs, greeted donors, helped them with paperwork, escorted them to each station and made sure they were replenished with a healthy snack and a drink before they took their leave.

These hardworking students assembled a total of 35 registered donors, collecting 28 pints of life-saving blood.

Students worked under the direction of faculty advisers Shari Bowes and Jessica Kuehn.
