Students at West End Elementary School celebrated the school's annual Famous American Day on May 3.
Each year Lynbrook's West End second graders have to write a biography report on a famous American.
This year, students chose people from an array of categories, the arts and sciences, politics, sports, entertainment and more.
The students dressed up as their famous American and gave a parent presentation. At school that morning were Abraham Lincoln, Ruby Bridges, Michael Phelps and Amelia Earhart, just to name a few.
Parents were invited to hear the children sing patriotic songs and an all time favorite, "Fifty Nifty," where each state is mentioned with New York being the favorite.
Students presented clues regarding their favorite American and parents guessed who they were.
According to a school spokeswoman, "Everyone enjoyed how the teachers married a wonderful learning experience with so much fun! It was obvious how much effort the children put into their performance to make it a success."
