West Hempstead, Malverne Students Help Those in Need

West Hempstead High School's Key Club holds food drive as students n Malverne raise funds for UNICEF.

This Thanksgiving many local families are enjoying a delicious meal thanks to the work of volunteers including members of the West Hempstead High School's Key Club.

The students held a food drive to collect several cans and other non-perishable food items that will be donated to those in need.

Meanwhile in Malverne this month, students at Maurice W. Downing Primary School raised funds for UNICEF, a national organization that provides children around the world with health care, nutrition, clean water and emergency relief. The kids collected the money by carrying around donation boxes while they went Trick or Treating this Halloween. Instead of asking for candy, they asked residents to drop coins into their boxes, which they brought into school to be donated to the charity.
