West Hempstead School Board Agenda: Aug. 21

See what the Board of Education will be discussing at tonight's meeting.

The West Hempstead Board of Education will hold its August business meeting at 7:30 p.m. tonight inside the videoconference room.

The meeting will include a detailed presentation of the of the New York State Math and English Language Arts assessments West Hempstead students took earlier this year. 

Superintendent John Hogan's monthly report will also include announcements pertaining to "Island Park Dates," "Board Table Configuration," and "Summer Projects," most likely referring to roof repairs at West Hempstead High School and the blacktop replacement at Cornwell Avenue School.

Hogan will also mention that Western-Suffolk BOCES will presenting the delivered at last week's Space Utilization Committee for a second time at the September board meeting. 

The school board will be voting on a number of contracts for services needed for the 2012-2013 school year, a cooperative bid, and prices for milk and student meals. A resolution pertaining to a bill that would grant seniority rights to certain groups of employees had been on the agenda, but has since been removed as Gov. Andrew Cuomo has vetoed
