West Hempstead Students Win County Writing Contest

Sophomores Jaime Rodriguez and Miranda Faria win awards in Young Authors' Contest.

The writings of two West Hempstead students recently won awards in this year's Young Authors’ Contest.

Each year, the Nassau Reading Council sponsors the contest, which is open to all students in Grades K-12 from all of Nassau County’s public, private and parochial schools. The students write a personal narrative which is judged in five categories.

West Hempstead's two winners, sophomores Jaime Rodriguez and Miranda Faria, both hail from Mr. Bonasia’s English class at West Hempstead High School.
