Eitan Sheena Brandon Aran played a large part in the win as well, combining for 11 kills and 15 digs on defense.

East Meadow

Boys Soccer: East Meadow dropped a 4-0 game up at Port Washington on Monday. After winning two straight games in the final week of September, the Jets have dropped their last two against some of the tougher matchups in the conference, with Plainview JFK representing the second loss. East Meadow is now 3-4-2 on the season.

Girls Soccer: East Meadow has had its challenges with arguably the toughest conference in Nassau County, that of AA-I. On Tuesday, the Lady Jets lost at home to Massapequa 2-0 to drop to 1-9-0 this season. Nicole Castro made eight saves in the effort. East Meadow will try to get back on track on Thursday at Baldwin, which is the lone team the girls have defeated this season.

FIVE TOWNS

Hewlett

Boys Soccer: Hewlett has been very tough to get past this season, as the Bulldogs picked up a close 3-2 win against Plainedge, remaining undefeated in their last seven games -- winning six and tying one. Luis Camps, Julien Benitez and Spencer Locke found the back of the net as the team pulled ahead in the second half to defeat Plainedge, which defeated Hewlett 3-2 back in September. The Bulldogs are now 7-2-1 and in first place in Conference V.

Girls Volleyball: Hewlett topped visiting Division on Tuesday in four sets to advance its record to 7-3, three games behind undefeated Lynbrook in Conference A-II. Lacey Jaffe and Sydney Rosenblum combined for 12 kills at the net and six aces, but Vanessa Collins led the way with team-highs in aces (seven) and digs (16) to help in the win.

Girls Volleyball: Lawrence, which usually boasts a strong offensive attack led by Michelle Vainblat and Natalie Leger, dropped just its second match of the season to visiting Carey in four sets. The Golden Tornadoes started the season at 8-0, but have since dropped their last two matches. Despite the losing streak, the team remains in first place in Conference A-III.

GARDEN CITY

Boys Soccer: Garden City scored early at Wantagh and was able to hang on for a tense 1-0 win on Tuesday. John Chtchekine provided the only offense the Trojans would need to improve their record to 7-1-2, currently second place in Conference IV. James Pyatsky stopped seven shots for his second shutout on the season.

Girls Soccer: Garden City cruised by Seaford on the road by way of a 3-0 shutout on Tuesday afternoon. Kayla Murphy, Liz Stutzman and Addie Zebrowski all posted goals in the strong effort. Zebrowski leads the team in goals this season with six, while Murphy and Stutzman each scored their third. Taylor Carpenter recorded a shutout with seven saves in her first start in goal this season for Garden City (5-2-3).

Girls Volleyball: The Lady Trojans were swept by Roslyn on the road, two teams that are fighting for an eventual favorable seed in the playoffs. Despite solid play from Noelle Byrne, Emily LaCourte and Jackie Seskin, Garden City dropped its fifth consecutive match of the season. They will take on third-place Kennedy on Thursday.

LEVITTOWN

Division

Boys Soccer: Division hung on for a close 3-2 win at home against Bethpage on Tuesday. Shane McLaughlin scored twice and Justin Hansen added another in the first half, but a Bethpage goal in the second half kept the Blue Dragons on their heels. In the end, the strong first half was enough as Division advanced to 7-1-2 on the season.

Girls Soccer: Division experienced something on Tuesday that was new to them this season. Despite not losing, the Lady Dragons couldn’t find the back of the net as they tied Plainedge on the road, 0-0. Gina Fader recorded her sixth shutout to help Division move its record to 7-0-1 on the season, first place in Conference A-I.

Girls Volleyball: Division dropped a four-set match at Hewlett on Tuesday, dropping its record to 2-9 on the season. Despite strong play from the likes of Kim Pepe and Julie Weidler, the Lady Dragons fell behind the second-place Lady Bulldogs after tying the set count at one apiece.

Island Trees

Boys Soccer: Island Trees played at Valley Stream North on Tuesday. Highlights are forthcoming.

MacArthur

Boys Soccer: MacArthur hosted Hicksville on Tuesday. Results are forthcoming.

Girls Soccer: It is looking like MacArthur may end up having a third shot at Farmingdale this season, as the Lady Generals picked up another win on Tuesday, a 1-0 defeat against visiting Oceanside. Jill Mulholland found Kelly Kempf with less than five minutes to go for the lone score. MacArthur improves its record to 7-2-0, with the two losses coming against the aforementioned Dalers.

LONG BEACH

Girls Soccer: Long Beach could not get past a tough Syosset team on Tuesday, falling by a 3-0 final. The Lady Marines competed for much of the game, but three second-half goals by Gianna Romano were the difference. Long Beach drops to 3-5-0 in Conference AA-II this season.

Girls Volleyball: Long Beach had a strong start to its season, but has struggled since, losing the latest match of the season by way of a 3-0 sweep at the hands of Manhasset, the defending Class B champions. After dropping the first two sets by just four and two points, respectively, the Lady Indians were too much for the Lady Marines, winning by a 14-point margin in the decisive set. Long Beach drops to 2-7.

LYNBROOK

Girls Soccer: A second-half goal from Megan Montine put the Lady Owls over the top at Valley Stream South for a close 1-0 win. Girls Volleyball: South Side struggled against visiting Wantagh on Tuesday, dropping three straight games. Grace Healy, Allison Glass and the rest of the Lady Cyclones played well, but they remain in second place at 8-3 in Conference A-I, behind the undefeated Lady Warriors.

SEAFORD

Girls Soccer: The Lady Vikings have been decimated by early season injuries, hindering their chances at a repeat for a conference title. Seaford lost to Garden City 3-0 at home on Tuesday to drop to 2-8-1 on the season in Conference A-I. Deanna Moore had a solid game in net with 14 big saves.

WANTAGH

Boys Soccer: Wantagh created a number of chances in its home game against Garden City, but ultimately came up empty in a 1-0 loss on Tuesday. The Warriors have had an up and down season thus far, falling to 2-6-1 in a very challenging Conference IV field. Wantagh defeated Garden City 3-2 on the road in the first meeting in September.

Girls Volleyball: Wantagh is arguably Nassau County’s top team this season, as it has been in years past.
