Isles Prep 40th Anniversary Events

Ken Morrow and Kenny Jonsson are among the players that will be inducted into the team's Hall of Fame.

The New York Islanders on Thursday said that as part of a season-long celebration of their 40th season in the National Hockey League, the team will induct four more former greats into their Hall of Fame.

Original Islander Eddie Westfall, Stanley Cup champion Ken Morrow, former Canadian Olympic star Patrick Flatley and ex-defenseman Kenny Jonsson will all be inducted on what the team calls "decade nights."

Westfall will be the first player inducted, on Nov. 19 against the Boston Bruins. Incidentally, Westfall was a member of the Bruins in the 1970s, when that organization won two Stanley Cups.

Morrow, who was also part of the 1980 Miracle on Ice U.S. Olympic team, will get inducted on Dec. 31. Flatley's turn takes place on Jan. 14. Jonsson's ceremony is on Feb. 11.

Also, other members of the Islanders alumni will be at the Nassau Coliseum on Oct. 29, when the team plays San Jose.

Finally, the team also said it would wear a 40-Year Anniversary patch on their jerseys.
