  • Class I: Freeport 62, William Floyd 35

Inside the numbers

  • Freeport and Floyd combined for 97 points, a Long Island championship record.
  • Freeport's 62 points also snapped a record, beating Sayville's 55 scored in the 2004 LIC against Wantagh. Their 533 total yards set a single-game LIC record and their 511 points in 2010 passes Bethpage and St. Anthony's mark of 500 to put this year's Red Devils' group as the highest scoring team in Long Island football history.
  • Garden City played in its record 12th Long Island championship. Four of those have been against Bellport and the Clippers have won each time.
  • Bellport won its sixth Long Island title, tying North Babylon for the most ever.
  • Glenn quarterback Ryan Reilly compiled a Long Island record 3,536 all-purpose yards this season.
  • Glenn was the only undefeated team on Long Island this season and is a favorite to win the Rutger's Trophy, presented to Suffolk County's top team.
  • The Knights also snapped Seaford's 23-game win streak, the longest on the Island.

Travis Houpe, Bellport: He scored the winning touchdown with less than 1:30 remaining in the game and totaled 104 yards on 25 carries.

Patric Berkery, Garden City: He had over 260 all-purpose yards (160 rushing and 108 receiving), rushed for two touchdowns and caught another.

What they're saying

Freeport coach Russ Cellan: "We hung together, stayed the course and were able to make some plays. You just keep chipping away and see what happens. We have a lot of skilled guys that can do stuff and Isaiah [Barnes] is one of the best."

Freeport quarterback Isaiah Barnes: "We watched a lot of film on them and we saw that we could exploit their secondary. We have great receivers, some of the best on the Island and we did it."

: "We had some great stops. It was a great team victory and I'm really happy the kids won it. It could have went either way and we just ended up on top."

Bellport running back Travis Houpe: "I came out and gave it my all. Words can't even explain it. I'm so excited. We all just leaned on each other and knew we had enough time. We were able to overcome and win our championship. Early on in the season we were 1-2 and a lot of people doubted us."

Lynbrook coach Steve LoCicero: "Our offensive line is seamless. Even if you think you know what we're going to run, we'll run some counter or come out of different schemes like we did. We have the ability to throw, but when you have three backs that average 10 yards a carry it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know what works. I think it's wonderful for the Lynbrook community."

Lynbrook running back Mike Kozlakowski: "It feels awesome. I knew this was it and you have to play every play like it's your last. Especially in a game like this, you know there is no tomorrow."

Glenn coach Dave Shanahan: "Ryan [Reilly] is unbelievable. He puts us in good plays. It came down to toughness. [Winning this] is something you wish for as a coach and it's finally here. It's so hard."

: "Getting here is not easy, winning it is even harder. These kids are a great bunch. This team here, personality wise, is different than any team I've ever been around. They don't get uptight; they're loose as a goose. They have a lot of confidence in themselves. I don't know how to explain it. They're just different."

Ryan Reilly: "After Week 2 we beat Babylon. I knew we'd be a serious contender and we kept winning."
