Lynbrook and East Rockaway Football Headed to Hofstra

The Owls and the Rocks hope to advance to the finals this week; Lynbrook plays in a re-match of last year's Nassau County championship.

Two local high school football teams are just one win away from a championship game.

Lynbrook with little problem Saturday in the conference III quarterfinals, 33-13. Luke Spitzer led the Owls on offense with 158 rushing yards and two touchdowns, while Matt Trotta anchored the defense with seven tackles and an interception.

East Rockaway (5-4) is coming off just as impressive of a win against the favorite, West Hempstead, in the quarterfinals. Nick Ulip led the Rocks in the 36-21 defeat of the Rams Saturday, rushing for 74 yards and two touchdowns. 

The Rocks (6-1) in the semifinals at Hofstra on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
