Lynbrook Football To Play First Game on Turf Field Friday

The Lynbrook varsity football team will break in the new turf field at Marion Street School Friday in a night game against Bethpage.

This is the Owls first game ever at the new field, with game time set for 7:15 p.m. The field was just recently completed and came in $150,000 under budget, according to Dr. Paul Lynch, assistant superintendent for finance.

The turf field was included in the 2012-13 school budget of $74.468 million. In a proposition vote,  the field  was approved by a 887-721 margin.

In addition to football, boys and girls lacrosse and boys and girls soccer will be played on the turf field.

The Lynbrook football team has gotten off to 1-1 start this season, defeating Sewanhaka on September 11 and falling to Plainedge on September 21.
