Rams Football Looks to Build On First Win

West Hempstead blew out Oyster Bay 41-14 last Saturday but will face a stiff test Saturday at Seaford.

West Hempstead Football Coach Dominick Carre was happy that his team got a big win to open the season.

"We started out on the right foot," said Carre of his teams dominating 41-14 victory over Oyster Bay last Saturday. "A lot of our guys stepped up and made some big plays against them."

Those guys included senior RB Justin Boatwright, who had two rushing touchdowns, junior RB Mike Petrizzo, who had two rushing TDs and super sophomore Tayvon Hall, who caught a 44 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Bruno Devito and had a rushing TD.

Boatwright ended up with 98 rushing yards on eight carries and Hall had 62 yards on 10 carries.

The Rams jumped all over the Baymen from the start taking a commanding 34-0 halftime lead and the defense held them scoreless until 9:00 minutes left in the game.

Defensive lineman, Steffan Vierea led the defense with two sacks.

But today the Rams will have their work cut out for them when they travel to Seaford Saturday to play one of Nassau County's best teams.

The Vikings have not lost a conference game in four years and have the majority of their talented roster back.

"They're an unbelievable team," said Carre. "But hopefully our guys will play well and we'll have a favorable outcome."

The game will be played at 5 p.m. at Seaford High School.
