Sept. 12: 9/11 Anniversary, Owls Football

Five things you need to know today in Lynbrook.

  • Yesterday, Patch paid tribute to those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001. Ten years later and the memories are still fresh in the minds of residents all across the country. Many were forever changed by the attack. are some of their stories.
  • Also yesterday, the Village of Lynbrook held a 9/11 memorial ceremony at Memorial Park to honor the 19 Lynbrook residents who lost their lives in the attacks. Come back today at 9 a.m. to read the story and see photos from the memorial.
  • In case you missed it, Lynbrook quarterback Luke Spitzer helped lead the Owls to victory in the first game of the season. The defending Long Island champs took down the Glen Cove Big Red, 38-20. Click for the full recap.
  • The Lynbrook Fire Department sponsored an "End of Summer Block Party and Salute to our Heroes" on Saturday night. Everything made was be donated to the Nassau County Firefighters -- Operation Wounded Warrior. Come back at 2:30 p.m. for the full video!
