Kennedy

Boys Basketball: Kennedy dropped a game to New Hyde Park on Tuesday by a 54-38 final. Chad Fuschillo led the Cougars with nine points, followed by Ben Canarick and Ralph Faiella with eight points each in the loss.

Girls Basketball: Kennedy dropped a road game to Jericho on Wednesday by a 45-35 final score. In what was a defensive battle from start to finish, no players reached double-digit scoring in the game. Victoria Ferry and Sam Milazzo led the Lady Cougars with eight points each. 

Mepham

Boys Basketball: Mepham has started its season 3-0 after defeating Seaford, 65-51, on the road. J.T. Elsasser scored a team-high 18 points. Kyle Wechsler and Matt Morrow both scored 16 points in the effort for the Pirates, who have won all three non-league games on the schedule. The team won just two games all of last season.

Clarke

Girls Soccer: Clarke senior defender Nicole Wahlig earned New York State first team honors in Class A after her performance for the Lady Rams this season.

Boys Basketball: Clarke started off well against visiting Garden City on Monday, trailing by a point after the end of the first quarter. However, the Trojans took over from there to win by a 60-44 final. Mike Martiello and Matt Seelinger led the Rams with 11 points each. Clarke then took on Lawrence, but dropped the non-league game by a 79-48 final score. Martiello finished with a team-high 18 points.

Girls Basketball: Clarke dropped a road game to Calhoun on Tuesday by a 46-26 final score. Danielle Ferrara scored a team-high 10 points and Alyssa Colletti added seven for the Lady Rams.

Bowling: The Clarke boys team defeated Uniondale by a 2-1 score on Tuesday: 804-622, 812-693 and 697-728. Kyle Raskover rolled a game-high 226 in the first set. The Clarke girls team swept Uniondale: 662-450, 601-460 and 628-488. Jennifer Rachel led the way for the Lady Rams, who are a perfect 6-0 on the season.

East Meadow

Wrestling: The Jets defeated a tough Division team on Wednesday in a dual meet. Vinny Pannullo, Matt Power, Mike Tropiano and Evan Pantofel were just a few of the wrestlers to help carry the team to a 45-29 win on the day. However, Chris Whitenack pinned his opponent at 170 pounds to officially clinch the win on the day.

Bowling: The East Meadow boys swept Hempstead on Tuesday, winning the three games by a combined 1,021 pins. Jeffrey Juarez had a high score of 258 in the opening game.

Hewlett

Boys Basketball: Hewlett won another close one of Wednesday night with a 48-45 win over Garden City to move to 3-0 on the season. Avery Feldman led with 19 points followed and Weldon Irvine added 13. The Bulldogs have won their games by two, one and three points thus far.

Girls Basketball: Hewlett lost a game at home to undefeated Manhasset on Tuesday, 61-48, despite a game-high 18 points from Gabby Casanova. Sam DiSalvo added 17 points in the effort. The Lady Bulldogs are 0-4 on the season.

Lawrence

Boys Basketball: Lawrence moved to 3-0 on the season with a blowout of Clarke on Wednesday. The Golden Tornadoes won 79-48, led by Eddie Robinson, who tied a career-high total of 32 points along with 16 rebounds, and 23 points from Dwayne Daniel. A.J. Gallo added 11 points to the winning effort. 

Girls Basketball: Lawrence picked up its first win in three tries this season with a 67-48 result over Hempstead on Monday. Four players reached double-digit points for the Lady Golden Tornadoes, led by Nicole Robinson with 18. Dina Goldstein had 16 points, Gabi Golan had 15 points and Natalie Leger added 10, including a pair of three-pointers. However, Lawrence dropped a game on Wednesday to Mineola by a 54-37 final. Goldstein led the team with 19 points as the Lady Golden Tornadoes fell to 1-3 on the season.

Lawrence Woodmere Academy

Girls Basketball: LWA defeated Our Savior New American on Tuesday by a 33-14 score. Melody Pierre-Gilles outscored the opponent by herself, scoring a career-high 17 points to go along with six assists in the win.

Boys Basketball: Garden City won two straight games following a 60-44 result at Clarke on Monday. Eddie Blatz is turning into the go-to option on offense as he led the Trojans with 21 points along with grabbing 13 rebounds. Dan Bonchonsky, Spencer Bais and Steven Bradley all added eight points in the effort. Garden City followed up the strong effort with a close loss to Hewlett by a 48-45 final. Bradley led the team with 15 points on the day for the Trojans, who are now 2-2 on the season.

Girls Basketball: The defending Long Island champion Lady Trojans improved to 5-0 on the season after a 43-33 win over Oceanside on Tuesday. Sam Auricchio scored a team-high 13 points and Christina Mangels added four points and 14 rebounds.

Bowling: The Garden City boys team defeated Great Neck South on Monday: 632-597, 622-673 and 639-603. The Trojans then defeated Roslyn on Wednesday by a 2-1 score to move to 5-1 on the season.

Division

Girls Soccer: Junior defender Alexa Schneider earned New York State first team honors for Class A after helping the Lady Blue Dragons to a county finals appearance. Senior midfielder Krista Fitzpatrick earned third team honors for Class A as one of the team's top point collectors.

Boys Basketball: Division has continued its struggles early on in the season, falling on the road to Mineola, 80-48. Colby Lapp and Ryan Birmingham have been two bright spots for the Blue Dragons, scoring 36 combined points in the effort on Tuesday.

Girls Basketball: After falling to Seaford last week, Division defeated Cold Spring Harbor in non-league, 42-39, on Monday. The Lady Blue Dragons overcame a 13-point halftime deficit to win. Susan Ballantyne led the way with 11 points and Kristin Aquila added eight on the day.

Island Trees

Girls Soccer: Senior forward Allison Merrill earned New York State second team honors for Class A after helping the Lady Bulldogs to a top-15 ranking in the state.

Boys Basketball: Island Trees lost to Valley Stream North by a 78-61 final score on Wednesday night. In a high-scoring affair, Vinny Vetrone led the Bulldogs with 17 points, Anthony Acevedo had 12 and both Joe Howard and Mike Gronenthal each added 10. 

Girls Basketball: Island Trees defeated Valley Stream North at home by a 56-43 margin on Wednesday. Maggie Milonakis scored a team-high 22 points and six rebounds, followed by Nicole Pellegrino with 13 points and seven steals, and Brianna Wilson with 11 points and seven assists.

Wrestling: Island Trees opened up their season at the Uniondale Tournament, finishing in second place with 264 team points. The Bulldogs sent 22 wrestlers into the tournament and 10 placed. Island Trees had five finalists and one champion, Brandon Cassar (170 pounds), who went 4-0 on the day. Other finalists who placed second were Chris Donnelly (106), Lucas Panebianco (138), Billy Ziegler (160) and Tommy Sinclair (220). Island Trees also had five wrestlers place for third and fourth. Matt Gund (113), Tom Mignone (120), Chris Burns (132) and A.J. Barletta (195) all finished third and Alex Zbikowski (285) took fourth.

MacArthur

Girls Soccer: Senior forward Jill Mulholland was named the Class AA Co-Player of the Year along with Samantha McGuire from John Jay, along with earning New York State first team honors. Senior defender Kelly Kempf earned New York State second team honors for Class AA.

Girls Basketball: MacArthur defeated a tough Uniondale team on the road on Tuesday by a 48-39 final. Down 31-29 heading into the final quarter, the Lady Generals outscored the Lady Knights 17-10 in the last eight minutes. Jenna Cozza scored a game-high 19 points and Courtney Noakes added 15 in the win. Both had eight rebounds as well for 2-0 MacArthur.

Boys Basketball: Long Beach lost a close game to Syosset on Tuesday by a 57-51 score. The Marines outscored the Braves by 15 points in the second half, but came up just short. Daryl Brown led the team with 21 points, followed by Tyquan Scott with 12 points and Tariq Cole with 10 points.

Swimming: Long Beach defeated Massapequa in a swim meet on Tuesday, 122-64. Swimmers broke three school records on the day. Trevor Dearstyne broke Massapequa records in the 100-yard butterfly (56.37) and the 50-yard butterfly (22.27). Nick Stoski broke a Long Beach record in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.60).

Boys Basketball: Lynbrook dropped a non-league game at home to Freeport by a 58-34 final score. Patrick Geiger led the team with seven points. Five Owls scored five points in the effort. Lynbrook drops to 0-3 on the season. 

Girls Basketball: Lynbrook fell on the road to Baldwin, 58-39, on Monday. Senior Brooke Gerstman has scored double digits in every game so far this season, adding 17 in the effort. The Lady Owls are now 1-2 on the season.

Wrestling: Lynbrook dropped a close match to Sewanhaka East by a score of 42-37 on Wednesday. Charlie Curcio won at 126 pounds, Eddie Farrell picked up a win at 145 pounds and Jon Espinosa won at 285 pounds in the effort.

Bowling: The Lynbrook boys team defeated Hewlett on Monday: 793-714, 678-633 and 718-671. Nick Lastella rolled a game-high 244 in the opening set for the Owls. The girls side swept Hewlett as well, led by Jennifer Ackerman.

Girls Basketball: Calhoun cruised by visiting Clarke on Tuesday with a 20-point win, 46-26. Jessica Ruggerio scored a game-high 12 points for the Lady Colts, who are now 2-1 on the season. Ten Calhoun players registered at least two points in the win.

Chaminade

Boys Basketball: Chaminade lost its second game of the season with a 71-64 decision to South Side on Wednesday to move to 3-1. Patrick Farrell led the Flyers with 19 points and John Gallego added 15 points. Chaminade will match up with another tough team in Lawrence on the road on Dec. 23.

Bowling: The boys team swept St. Mary’s on Monday, posting 1,000-plus team scores in two of the three games. The Flyers had four scores of more than 200: two by Alex Cipollone, one by John Lindgren and another by Ryan Egan.

Mineola

Boys Basketball: Mineola defeated Division on Tuesday, 80-48, in a non-league home game. Mike Waszchuk poured in a career-high 32 points, including four three-pointers. Malcolm Brown scored 25 points, including six three-pointers, as well as a team-high six assists. The Mustangs are now 1-1 on the season. 

Girls Basketball: Mineola defeated Lawrence on Wednesday 54-37 to move to 3-1 on the season. Kerri Medlock has been the early season MVP as she led the team with 21 points and 14 rebounds. Samantha Venus added 20 points in the win.

Bowling: The girls team defeated Oyster Bay on Wednesday by a 2-1 score: 456-370, 497-506 and 496-488. Jaclyn Lusardi led the Lady Mustangs, who are now 2-3 on the season. The boys team lost to Oyster Bay by a 2-1 score, as the two losing games were decided by just six pins and 10 pins.

Girls Soccer: Sophomore forward Christina Klaum earned New York State first team honors after helping the Lady Cyclones to a Class A state title with 11 total goals in the playoffs. Senior defender Caitlyn Wallace earned New York State second team honors and head coach Shannon McEntree was named the Class A Coach of the Year.

Boys Basketball: South Side defeated Chaminade 71-64 in a matchup of two powerhouse schools on Wednesday. Ryan Spadaford led the way with a game-high 24 points and 12 rebounds and Robert Pichioni added 18, along with 11 from Darren Nickelson. South Side is 3-0 on the season.

Girls Basketball: South Side defeated Bethpage on Wednesday by a 41-29 final score. Despite the lone player in double-digits being from Bethpage, the Lady Cyclones had twice as many scorers as their opposition. Maggie McGowan, Bridget McFadden and Allison Bannon all led the way with eight points.

Boys Basketball: Seaford lost to Mepham in non-league on Tuesday by a 65-51 final score. Sophomore James Curley scored a game-high 24 points, but the next Vikings player scored just seven points against the Pirates. Seaford is now 1-1 on the season.

Girls Basketball: Seaford topped Plainedge on the road in a non-league game this past Tuesday by a 39-31 final. The Lady Vikings led 26-14 at the half to cruise to their second win of the season. Jessica Rini led the way with 12 points and Megan Russell added 10 points to go along with 13 rebounds.

Bowling: The Wantagh boys team defeated Division by a 2-1 score to advance to 4-1 overall on the season. Ryan Fiorillo rolled a game-high 236 and Nick DaSilva got the team started with a 222 in the opening set. The girls side defeated Division, 2-1, led by a 234 score in the opening set by Valerie Chin, to advance to 5-0 on the season.

Girls Soccer: Senior forward Olivia Czavar was named the Class A Player of the Year after leading the Lady Rams this season, along with earning New York State first team honors.

Girls Basketball: West Hempstead lost to Wheatley 54-30 on Wednesday afternoon. Jackie Targatlia led the Lady Rams with eight points. Despite taking the fourth quarter by an 11-0 count, the deficit was too large for the road team as they fall to 2-2.
