The Wantagh and Seaford wrestling teams shined on the county's biggest stage Tuesday.
The two area high schools produced five individual champions at the Nassau County Tournament held at Hofstra University's Mack Sports Complex. Wantagh's four county winners included Kyle Quinn at 106 pounds, Vinnie Turano at 132 pounds, Dan McDevitt at 170 pounds and James Corbett at 182 pounds. Seaford junior James O'Hagan captured an individual title at 285 pounds with a pin of Farmingdale's Bryan Tenny after a third place finish a year ago.
The five local wrestlers now advance to the New York State Championships at Albany on Feb. 24-25.
Wantagh finished first as a team in Nassau County for its fourth championship in five years, according to a recap posted by wantaghwrestling.com. The Warriors also captured their second straight Nassau County dual meet championship on Jan. 27.
