W.H. Little League Bests Malverne in Abridged Game
West Hempstead Little League team wins 3-2 in four inning game.
The West Hempstead boys Little League team (14-16) was victorious in a four-inning game over Malverne, 3-2, Wednesday night.
The game which was called on account of darkness was tightly contested between both clubs.
Malverne got on board first after loading the bases in the top of the first inning. Nick Buffardi scored on an RBI and Justin Leone stole home plate for an early 2-0 lead.

West Hempstead followed suit in the bottom of the first when Harvest Battist hit a double and then stole home to cut the deficit to 2-1.
In the bottom of the second, they tied the score when Michael Guarisco got on base and proceeded to steal home plate.

James Valerio hit a popper to midfield in the bottom of the third to score the final run of the game, giving West Hempstead the 3-2 victory.
"It was a tight game from start to finish," said West Hempstead coach and Little League President George DiGiovanni. "Our pitcher, Jim Devito, pitched a heck of a game, giving up only three hits and getting seven strikeouts."
West Hempstead played Saturday at Fireman's Memorial Field in Valley Stream. Malverne will play at home against New Hyde Park on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
