I tried to cut and paste the entire patch charter in this comments section, but it was rejected. Suggestion: hire an editor with local roots and lose the highlighting of "some of Patch's best work every day". I am one of the people that comprise your local "broader audience", and I am not interested in sensational headlines or national "news" stories with headlines engineered to manipulate readers into opening the story (isn't that how you determine success in your business model?) Brian Slupski: you say of the "Marijuana-laced brownies" story that "based on the numbers, most people seemed to like it". What numbers? Will you please share with the readers exactly how you determine what "most people seem to like"?

All you have to do is look at the comments to see that people don't like the new format. Just because people are being tricked into opening a headline that they thought was from their town does not mean that it is a wanted article.

I thought Patch was for local news. Why am I seeing headlines from all over the country? I can get my national news from lots of sources. If Patch can't get me local news, then I have no use for it.

Brian, if you or anyone bothers to read these comments, contrary to your answer, NOBODY is in favor of these changes. Patch is sinking quickly and EVERYONE wants their local news, not stuff from other places. Please try to get whomever is making these stupid decisions and moves to return to LOCAL COMMUNITY coverage.
