Can't we keep this local??
Lisa February 20, 2014 at 06:54 PM
I don't want trending news; I want LOCAL news from my community!
Amy Miskiewicz February 20, 2014 at 06:54 PM
I have the patch on my feed because I'm living in Korea and I want to keep up with LOCAL news. When I want country or global news, I go somewhere else.
JDBroomall February 20, 2014 at 06:59 PM
AOL sold Patch and fired all the local reporters.... welcome to the "new" local Marple Newtown news.... NJ and CA lol

i USED TO read the Martha's Vineyard and Falmouth patch. the point of the patch is local news. Since Louisa Hufstader was let go, there is no more local news. pointless.

Patch is basically DEAD. And ironically, Wall Patch, where I'm seeing this, is actually still pretty good, by Patch standards. I feel bad for the editor, he did a good job here. He should get Baristanet to set up a coastal Jersey bureau or something for him.

Let's see, my Patch should be a town in CT but is showing me MA, MI and GA. Really? If I wanted national news I'd look elsewhere. Very disappointing.
Steve February 20, 2014 at 07:29 PM
What happened to Local news? Patch used to be good, but now I get news from everywhere but local.
Steve February 20, 2014 at 07:31 PM
PATCH SUCKS!!!! It used to be good.

More TRENDING NEWS; Hey Patch, I only want my local Concord new! Wake up, your loosing followers!
Bob Adsit February 20, 2014 at 07:49 PM
Good bye patch.
Geoff Haines, N1GY February 20, 2014 at 08:25 PM
Please!!! Get rid of this stupid "Trending" baloney. I WANT LOCAL NEWS. NOT SOME THING FROM HALFWAY ACROSS THE COUNTRY. Bring back local news. Please!!!
regnu71 February 20, 2014 at 09:54 PM
Bring back the LOCAL news for each Patch communities! Not interested in "trending news" . Hello! Is anyone at Patch headquarters reading all of these comments from unhappy readers????????????
Jonathan Pelc February 21, 2014 at 12:02 AM
I am done with the patch. I will now dislike as the only reason I read you was for local news. I can get my other news elsewhere. Goodbye patch.
Ajack February 21, 2014 at 06:48 AM
I will be disconnecting my Patch if this continues. It's suppose to be local. If you can not stay within the unwritten agreement bounds , why we decided to sign up for it in the first place, if you keep going in the direction you are headed , then it may be time to let it all go.Sorry. Please keep it local. There is plenty of dirt and scandals in this town. You could do so many stories especially about parent with kids who have been abused by the school system. Dig for the stuff that they try and sweep under the carpet and don't want the people to know about. It's so juicy and corrupt. Live long enough and you will hear much. You just have to do good investigative reporting. The various administrators in this town and how they game the public is ample fodder for a continuous stream of good readings. Do your homework.....our homework....please.

So the Commack Patch is no longer about Commack? What's the point? Yet another failure from the incompetent idiots at AOL.
Martha Cox Popichak February 21, 2014 at 08:08 AM
This change in Patch is ridiculous. Why not call it Muddy Patch? There is certainly nothing local about it. All we readers can do is vent here in comments which will never be read by any of those corporate folks in charge. Who on earth would want to advertise on this forum any more?
Laura February 21, 2014 at 10:09 AM
AllAboutMonroe.com - Bill Bittar's new site with JUST LOCAL MONROE news - the way the Patch is now is JUNK! I don't know what their purpose is - I use to love to read the dialogues here...now? NOPE!!!
tanya February 21, 2014 at 11:46 AM
Dear Patch, PLEASE read and heed: STOP with the "trending local" BS when in fact it's stories from all over the US that are anything BUT local and serve only to annoy the crap out of everyone else looking for truly LOCAL news for their area!! Whose ridiculous idea was this anyway?
Ben M February 21, 2014 at 06:59 PM
TRENDING NEWS from Patch "Woman Dies After Carport Roof Collapses;" "Heavy Snow Might be to Blame" Why do we always blame Mother Nature for stupid people neglect? If this is "Trending News" I'm glad I still have my common sense to prevent disaster. I actually took a personal day off work on Wednesday to shovel off the 28 inches of snow from my roofs after Tuesday's storm.

Is there any local news to print? Is the Lakewood Patch no longer for the City of Lakewood news? Would someone print an article addressing why there is no longer local updates? Or has the Patch just stopped printing the City of Lakewood related information, news and event updates? It appears as though we do not have a voice in what we want to read.
Martha Cox Popichak February 23, 2014 at 07:12 AM
It appears that since Hale Global became the majority owner of Patch, it no longer cares about its success.
Vindaloo February 24, 2014 at 08:00 AM
When is everyone going to catch on that local Patch is gone. Local reporters have been laid off. There isn't anyone to report the local news for your town. Patch depended on local business ads to fund the online newspaper. If you didn't support local business, you didn't support local news reported by Patch and it's reporters. When are people going to stop thinking they can have everything they want without a price.
