Actor Seth Rogen delivered a funny and personal plea to Congress to increase funding for Alzheimer's research.

Rogen's mother-in-law was diagnosed with the disease nine years ago and started a charity, Hilarity for Charity to raise awareness about the disease. Rogen's opening statement before Congress is attached this post.

Rogen also publicly chastised the U.S. Senate, noting the number of senators who did not bother to even show up for the hearing.

There is not enough done to educate people about this very nasty disease and even less done to find a cure and cause. To bad mouth Seth Rogen for trying to be part of the solution and not the problem is mean and uncaring. Ya'll should be ashamed. I truly hope you don't have to go thru the heartache of seeing a loved one disappear in front of your eyes but you can have the decency not to trivialize the hopelessness and desperation these families go thru caring for an Alzheimers family member. Martin Tillett, I think we need to go one step further...exempt them from retirement pay unless they do put in a full 20 plus years or at least use the same standards the free market place uses. Congress justifies their pay by saying that qualified people won't run unless their pay is equal to the free market....those same standards should also be used for their retirement AND Healthcare.

My mother passed away a year ago from Alzheimer's. It is hard on the entire family. Politicians only care about advancing themselves. they are not interested in anything that doesn't benefit them. I think it is great that Seth Rogen is making an effort to bring attention to it
