Girl Scouts Re-Elect West Hempstead Woman to County Board

Bonnie Porzio voted to Member-at Large position of Girl Scouts of Nassau County, Board of Directors.

Bonnie Porzio, a resident of West Hempstead, was re-elected on May 21 to the Board of Directors of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County, Inc. as a Member-at-Large.

The election took place during the Girl Scout's 47th Annual Meeting held at the DeMatteis Center. Porzio joins other Board Members in their mission to provide leadership, innovation and constant support to the Girl Scouts of Nassau County Council.

“Bonnie has and will continue to be a great addition to our Board of Directors,” said Diane M. McFarlane, Esq., president of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County Board of Directors. “We believe this is an appropriate recognition for the work that she has done in the past. With Bonnie serving on our Board again, we are confident that she will bring strong leadership and help us to continue our mission of building girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.”

Porzio actively supports the Council’s fundraising efforts. She co-chaired the Girl Scouts of Nassau County’s committee for the concession stand at the U.S. Open and was a member of the Corporate Committee for the First Annual “Girls Go the Distance” Walkathon. She was also a member of the Fund Development Committee and served as a member of the Council Nominating Committee. Currently, Ms. Porzio is General Counsel for Triumph Construction Corp., a multimillion-dollar construction company in New York. Prior to joining Triumph, Porzio was a Senior Associate with Rivkin Radler, LLP for 10 years, after graduating from Hofstra University School of Law. 

Additionally, Porzio was a “WishGranter” for the Make-a-Wish Foundation and a former Board Member of Long Island’s chapter of “Dress for Success.” Currently, she is a Member at Large for the St. Thomas the Apostle School Board and PresidentElect for the fundraising arm of her children’s school. Ms. Porzio has been one of her daughter’s Brownie leaders for the past two years, as well. She lives with her husband, Josh, and two children, Reilly and Aidan, in West Hempstead.
