Malverne Civic Selects New President

Suzanne Kraemer-Parra replaces Peter Robideau as president of the volunteer-based organization.

The leadership of the Malverne Civic Association changed hands last month when the volunteer group held its board elections.

Former vice president Suzanne Kraemer-Parra stepped up into the position of president, replacing Peter Robideau, who had led the organization for the past four years. Kathi Monroe, the board's former secretary, became the new vice president, leaving the secretary position vacant at the moment. Philip Ballin remained the group's treasurer and Ed Hassel the sergeant at arms.

Robideau could not be present at the village board meeting on Wednesday because he was ill, but asked his successor to read a statement.

"It has been my pleasure to be on the MCA board for the past four years and I am thrilled that Suzanne has taken the position of president of this wonderful organization," Robideau wrote. "I hope the new board will continue the success of the MCA and continue to improve the already high quality of life that Malvernites enjoy."

He also thanked the mayor and village board for their support of the organization in his statement, and promised to do his best to remain active with the civic.

Kraemer-Parra then expressed her gratitude for Robideau and his service to the group and the village.

"Under his leadership, the organization flourished and provided the village with outstanding service, events and whatever help it needed," she said, adding that she would continue to build upon the work that the group performed under Robideau's leadership.
