Mud Hens Win Over Seniors With Wii

Malverne's youth baseball team spends the day volunteering at assisted living home.

Who said video games were just for kids?

The Malverne Mud Hens spent the day playing Nintendo Wii with a group of senior citizens during a recent visit to the Atria assisted living community in Lynbrook.

The youth baseball players volunteered earlier this month serving up snacks and some friendly competition to the residents, who had a blast taking on the kids in Wii bowling and golf.

The visit was arranged by Rosie and Dan McDermott, who are part of the Mud Hens family. Their goal was to promote the mission of the Mud Hens, which is to instill into the children of the community the ideals of good sportsmanship, integrity, loyalty and courage, so that they may grow to be assets to their families, friends, and the community.
