Local do-gooders converged upon Friday night to participate in the first-ever Malverne Relay For Life, a fundraiser to benefit the American Cancer Society.
Participants amassed pledge money and walked laps starting at 7 p.m. in a show of support and to help in the effort to wipe out cancer.
Despite on and off rain throughout entire day, the Relay for Life was still a huge success, surpassing its fundraising goal.
To date, more than $18,000 has been raised through this event and those wishing to still make donations can do so until August. Click here to donate to the cause.
