Update: All power has been restored to Malverne customers as of 9 p.m. Monday, according to LIPA.
Original Story: With strong winds just starting to pick up, 56 Malverne households are currently without power as of 5:30 p.m. Monday, according to the Long Island Power Authority's (LIPA) outage map.
Crews have been assigned to the scene and the estimated restoration time for Malverne customers is 7:30 p.m., according to LIPA.
The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for both Nassau and Suffolk counties until 10 p.m. this evening. Possible thunder and lightning, as well as winds gusting up to 38 miles per hour, are expected Monday evening.
