Free Thanksgiving Dinner, Small Business Saturday Reminder and Menorah Lighting

Wondering what's going on in town this week?

Check out some events taking place in town this week and if you see we've missed something, add it to the boards:

  • Hanukkah begins at sundown on Wednesday. The Village of Lynbrook will be holding a Lighting of the Menorah on corner of Merrick Road and Hempstead Avenue beginning at 7 p.m.
  • The Malverne Jewish Center holds a Lighting of the Menorah on Wednesday, 5:30 p.m. at the Malverne LIRR station.

  • Malverne Village Hall will be closed on Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving.  The Department of Public Works will also be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday. There will be a Village-wide sanitation pick-up on Friday, along with normal Friday recycling. Please Hold all Thursday recycling until the following week (Source: Malverne Village website).

  • A Common Core Parent Led Initiative will be held on Monday, Nov. 25, 7:30 p.m. at the Hewlett-East Rockaway Jewish Center. More info. can be found here. 
  • Celebrity Chef Gail Chandler, The Queen of Mobile Cuisine, will be visiting Greis Park in Lynbrook on Thursday at 11 a.m. for Thanksgiving.
  • The Vineyard Church of Rockville Centre will host an annual Thanksgiving Open House including a homemade turkey dinner.
  • The West Hempstead Chamber of Commerce would like to remind residents that Small Business Saturday is this Saturday: "Please consider avoiding the traffic and crowds at the big malls and shop locally to support the local entrepreneurs that hire your neighbors and support the community by paying taxes."
