Surf Contests, Summer's End Celebrations This Weekend

A rundown of events for this weekend in the area.

Summer's End in Long Beach

Surf ContestThe four-day 2013 unSound Surf Pro contest that kicked off on National beach in Long Beach on Thursday will continue Saturday and Sunday. 

The King and Queen of the Beach Surf Contest is set for Sunday at National Boulevard Beach from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The contest is for surfers ages 18 and under.

The Michelle O'Neill Volleyball Tournament will be held at Laurelton Beach on Saturday. The event is the larger volleyball tournament on the East Coast. 

The Long Beach Chamber of Commerce Street Fair will be held on the Superblock in Long Beach, on East Broadway between Long Beach and Edwards Boulevards, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Summer's End Celebration at Greis Park

Say goodbye to summer with some free family fun in Lynbrook. Food, music, games, prizes, bouncy castles, crafts, facepainting, and more are in store for the Saturday celebration. More information here.

Long Island Singles Speed Dating

Single and ready to mingle? Check out this speed dating event Friday night in New Hyde Park for men ages 42-56 and women ages 40-52. Another event will be held Saturday for men ages 35-47 and women ages 32-44
