Town of Hempstead Sanitary District No. 6
The Town of Hempstead's Sanitary District No. 6 serves Elmont, Franklin Square, Garden City South, Lakeview, Malverne Park, South Floral Park and West Hempstead. It is the largest district among water, fire, sewer and sanitation in the state of New York. In addition to collecting garbage and recyclables, the district also handles junk, compost and special pickups.
