We had a Red-tailed hawk in our back yard about 6 years ago. There was a noted silence in the air asRead More all the other birds didn't want their presence to be known. It was pretty awesome.

I think his point is that the residents &taxpayers have been taken for granted. There is littleRead More or no accountability by the BOE or Administration to the taxpayer. We ALL have a stake in the performance of the shools in this district, if our kids go there or if we simply want to protect our property values. My concern is any outspoken member of the Board needs to have a plan to work with the current members to make positive changes. If he can't present clear alternatives he will be attacked constantly by the current members achieve nothing.

As a college professor, we know that many of the students are not "adults" but LEGALLY weRead More are not allowed to discuss the student with the parent. We know that it is the parent that is most often paying for college, but without a signed letter of consent. signed by both the parent and the student, we are LEGALLY NOT ALLOWED to discuss the student with the parent....no matter how much we want to.

I completely agree with you...and that's my point. Our system does define adulthood by age (and tooRead More young of an age in my opinion) when it shouldn't be. And personally, I think talking on your cell phone or texting while driving should be an immediate loss of license.

Age does not determine adulthood. Maturity does. There are plenty of non-adult 30 year oldsRead More wandering around. You can see them on their cell phones while driving at 70 mph.

Wow, I live 70 miles from the Mall near Hofstra and decided to stop there last week for the firstRead More time in 50 years and there was a shooting that day. Sad that the student died but glad that there is a huge Police presence at the Mall and University.
