When the school first opened, it only had six classrooms, but four years later it underwent extensive renovations. This added eight more rooms and a combination gymnasium-auditorium, which until 1932 also served as the home basketball court and assembly room for the high school. Six more rooms were added in 1951, and around 2007, a new playground was installed on the school grounds. In 2010, the school underwent a transformation that changed Davison Avenue School from a kindergarten-through-fourth-grade school to one that was solely responsible for educating all of the district's third and fourth graders. (All the younger students in the district were consolidated into Downing School.)
