Rabbi Meyer, Goldie Fendel and a small group of individuals founded the Hebrew Academy of Nassau County in 1953 afterMore recognizing the lack of Jewish education in the area. HANC is comprised of four campuses, located in Plainview, West Hempstead and Uniondale. This building serves as the academy's headquarters and houses the Samuel & Elizabeth Bass Golding Early Childhood Center of West Hempstead. Similar to the center in Plainview, it educates youngsters in early reading, and prepares them to learn how to write in English and in Hebrew. As a whole, HANC educates more than 1,200 students each year in nursery through high school, who come from 50 communities throughout Long Island and Queens.

The Samuel & Elizabeth Bass Golding School in West Hempstead is one of two elementary yeshivas affiliated with theMore Hebrew Academy of Nassau County. When the school was founded in the 1950s, it enrolled only 30 students, but by the late 1980s, the flourishing campus needed to expand to accomodate its growing population. The school educates students from kindergarten through sixth grade in both Judaic and general studies in a co-educational, orthodox environment. Students participate in exciting programs such as the Franklin Institute, the Goudreau Museum of Math, a Shofar Making Workshop, Reading is Fundamental, and Author's Day. The school also incorporates an anti-bullying program and the Robert Rivest Healthy Choices Program. It also offers a diverse selection of clubs and programs that meet either during recess or after school.

Young Israel of West Hempstead began in the mid-1950s as a small minyan at the recently formed Hebrew Academy of NassauMore County and today has grown to nearly 700 families. The Orthodox synagogue holds services throughout the week, classes and ongoing lecture series. It also has an active Sisterhood and youth program. Their Web site contains a full calendar of services and events, and a link to an online Torah tape library.
