The church welcomes non-members to participate in its youth programs, including its impressive Joyful Noise choir, which is open to kids ages 5 to 14. While the church still stands in its original location, it underwent a major renovation in 1961 and today includes a gym, several meeting rooms and a child care program that is available during regular Sunday services. Whelan Field

Whelan Field is comprised of two Little League baseball diamonds, a snack stand and a small patio area. The field isMore named after former village trustee Robert Whelan, who was influential in establishing the Malverne Little League in 1952. Many of the league's baseball and softball teams use Whelan as their home field.</p> <p>Whelan Field underwent renovations in 2003, thanks in part to the New York Mets, who donated $20,000.  In 2006 the league dedicated a space near the fields' on-deck circles to honor Peter Sluka, a Malverne resident who devoted much of his time to the Little League program. The Malverne Civic Association also holds an annual Labor Day picnic on the field.</p>

Davison Avenue School

Davison Avenue School is part of the Malverne Union Free School District, but the building is actually located in theMore village of Lynbrook. In the early 1990s, Davison Avenue earned the U.S. Department of Education's Blue Ribbon School of Excellence Award. Built in 1921, it is the oldest school building in the district. When the school first opened, it only had six classrooms, but four years later it underwent extensive renovations. This added eight more rooms and a combination gymnasium-auditorium, which until 1932 also served as the home basketball court and assembly room for the high school. Six more rooms were added in 1951, and around 2007, a new playground was installed on the school grounds. In 2010, the school underwent a transformation that changed Davison Avenue School from a kindergarten-through-fourth-grade school to one that was solely responsible for educating all of the district's third and fourth graders. (All the younger students in the district were consolidated into Downing School.)
Grace Lutheran School

In 1959, Grace Lutheran laid the cornerstone for a school building after nearly two years of fundraising. When theMore day school opened it only enrolled students in kindergarten, first and second grades. By 1968 though, the school taught students up to the eighth grade. Today, the school educates students from nursery school through sixth grade. The students receive Bible-based religious instruction and attend weekly chapel services. The school also has classes in art and music, a foreign language program and a computer lab, where students as young as four receive lessons on how to use the technology. Students can also participate in extracurricular events and activities, including karate, dance and choir. Thanks to a successful fundraising drive the school also has a newly renovated outdoor playground.
Beth-El Church of God in Christ

The church underwent a major 2-year renovation to enhance its sanctuary and meeting areas, and install a lift for handicapped parishioners. A major focus of the church is reaching out to the young people in the community. In 2010, the church introduced an after-school program that offers music lessons, tutoring and  homework help, and teaches construction skills to young adults. Throughout the year, parishioners can participate in weekly Bible study sessions, youth and adult choirs, a youth program and missionary activities. The church also hosts an annual  Women's Day, Men's Day, and Family and Friends Day, along with other social events that are held in the church hall.
