After decades of serving the community out of a small storefront and then later the first floor of the school…More district's administration building, the West Hempstead Public Library moved into a spacious home in 2007.</p> <p>The new building houses an impressive collection of books, computers and digital media, along with several study areas and private tutoring rooms.</p> <p>Outside, visitors are greeted by a beautiful fountain, the design of a deceased West Hempstead resident and graduate of Cooper Union whose family raised the funds to bring his design to life in the community.</p> <p>The library offers friendly service and a slew of interesting programs, classes and trips for people of all ages. There is entertainment two Sundays a month, from September through June at 2pm, which includes magicians, musicians and comedic acts. Teens will find courses in SAT prep and planning for college, while adults can get help in rennovating their home, filing their taxes and staying in shape. Plus, there are fun and educational activities for youngsters throughout the year.</p>
