Kyle Blumenthal started her painting demonstration at the Art League of Nassau County (ALNC) in a unique way. She turned on some inspirational music, meditated a few minutes and then picked up her paint brush.

Blumenthal is influenced by Impressionist artist, Claude Monet (1840-1926) of "Water Lilies" series fame and Post- Impressionist Dutch artist, Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) who painted the equally well-known "Sunflowers" series.

The artist worked on oil-primed paper and proceeded to paint a large, lively semi-abstract sunflower in oil paint, using a number of sunflowers in a vase for reference. she encouraged the artists to paint from life and work in an expressive, meaningful way.

Kyle’s painting progressed from a few dabs of paint on the canvas to a fully realized landscape of sunflower against a blue sky. It was exciting to watch the process of painting, and a learning experience to watch the steps of the art creation process.

Blumenthal donated an small oil painting of a ballet dancer as a raffle prize.
