Associated In Malverne Opens for Business

The only supermarket in Malverne re-opens under new management.

The Associated supermarket in Malverne quietly re-opened for business Thursday morning under its new management team.

After weeks of cleaning up the mess the previous owner left behind, Carlos Pichardo and Noel Collado, the new management team in charge of Malverne's only grocery store, finally welcomed customers.

They posted "Welcome" and "Open" banners outside the store and officially put the supermarket back in business at 9 a.m. on March 17, about a week later than originally planned.

While they are considering this only their "soft opening" with plans to hold a grand opening in the next few weeks, most of the shelves were already well-stocked. The store also looked very clean and organized as the managers had when they spoke at the recent village board meeting.

Now, residents who have had to use stores in neighboring towns can get their fresh produce, frozen foods, cereals, dairy and other groceries in the village once again.

I, along with many residents, have been eagerly awaiting the re-opening of this market. Shopping our local merchants is a way to ensure the success of our Village now, and in the future. Best of luck to the team at Associated!

That's great to know. I was just about to place a large Peapod order but instead I will shop tomorrow at the newly opened grocery. Yay!

FRAN KLEIN Good timing. Now we can save on gas by shopping local. We missed having our local market. This is just so convenient for all.

Thank you! It's a great store, brand new! Nice and clean! Prices are very resonable and produce extrememly fresh. Please support your local merchants, it's what makes our little town a "great, little town".

The store has a bright fresh look, is immaculate, and has plenty of items now to choose from. The deli dept is great. I recommend local shopping! Lorraine Smith
