Malverne Card Store on the Market

The owner of "Waiting On a Friend" is looking to sell.

After 15 years doing business in Malverne, the owner of  a convenience store on Hempstead Avenue, is now waiting for a prospective buyer to takeover his lease.

Business is fine, says the store's owner, Akrish Besai, of Floral Park, but after spending the past 28 years running card shops - first in Manhattan and then Lynbrook before coming to Malverne -  he's ready for a change.

"I'm now 53 and putting in long hours," says Besai, who is hoping to get a job working for the City of New York instead. He took the civil service test and has been waiting for a call with a job offer - or one from a prospective buyer.

Although the shop is still open for business as usual, Besai has already placed it on the market. It's listed at $125,000.
