Shop Locally — With Lynbrook Chamber Dollars

Program aims to keep residents spending money, helping business in the village

In an effort to get more village residents to shop locally, the Lynbrook Chamber of Commerce is promoting its Chamber Dollars contest.

Residents can enter to win a $25 gift certificate, good at any Chamber member's business. The business is subsequently reimbursed for the gift certificate by the Chamber. Several gift certificates are given out during each contest.

The Chamber Dollars contest is a positive thing for Lynbrook in several ways, says Chamber President Bill Gaylor. The gift certificate can only be spent at a participating Chamber member's business, so the resident is supporting the "shop local" idea. And if the resident ends up going to a non-Chamber business with the gift certificate, it adds an incentive for that business to join the Chamber.

"It's a good thing for everybody," Gaylor said.

Residents can register on the Chamber's website at www.lynbrookusa.com/chamberdollars.html.
