This Week's Best Gas Prices

While most pumps in their area raised their prices this week, the gas station on Hempstead Avenue in West Hempstead continued to offer regular gasoline at $3.18 per gallon, the lowest in all of Malverne and West Hempstead. This station only accepts cash though, so if you must use a credit card you'll need to head over to the Mobil on the corner of Hempstead Turnpike and Westminster Road. They have regular gasoline for $3.21 per gallon, regardless of what method of payment you use, but you will need to fill up your own tank.

Other stations offering low prices this week to cash-paying customers are Vega Gas and OK Petroleum, both $3.19 per gallon for regular, and both Gulf station in West Hempstead - one on corner of Hempstead Turnpike and Nassau Boulevard and the other on Nassau Blvd across from a . The latter is notorious for having the highest prices in town, but this week both of these stations sell regular gasoline to cash customers for $3.23 per gallon. Credit card users can expect to spend a few cents more per gallon for paying with plastic at these pumps, which does add up.

If you want flexibility, flat pricing and full service, then go with the Getty station on Hempstead Avenue across from in Malverne. This station will pump the gas for you and charge you the same price - $3.25 per gallon - for regular gas, whether you pay with cash or credit.

If you're looking for plus gasoline, the lowest price -$3.29 per gallon - was found at the Gulf on Nassau Boulevard and Hempstead Turnpike, OK Petroleum on Westminster Road and Hempstead Avenue and on Hempstead Avenue, all in West Hempstead. OK and Vega only offer this rate for cash purchases, while the Gulf station extends this price to both cash and credit customers. 

OK and Vega also have the best rate for super gas - $3.39 per gallon - but again, this applies to cash customers, as credit card users will pay more. If you prefer to use credit, the on Nassau Boulevard and Hempstead Turnpike will get you the best flat rate of $3.43 per gallon,  but be careful not to confuse this with the Gulf on the other end of the Nassau Boulevard, near Hall's, which charges 12 additional cents per gallon to bring the price of super gas up to $3.55.
