Aug. 2: Swim Across America, Pool Side Story Times

Five things you need to know today in Lynbrook.

The following are five things you need to know today in Lynbrook and/or on Patch:

1 — After wacky weather that brought rain, thunderstorms, and even golf-ball sized hail in some areas around Nassau County on Monday, Tuesday looks to be mostly sunny with a high temperature of about 89 degrees. The temperature takes quite a dip in the evening hours, with a low of 67 degrees expected.

2 — Keep an eye out for No. 74 in Patch's "." See if there's something in the village you've never experienced, whether that be a restaurant you haven't tried or an interesting club in your area.

3 — At 1 p.m. today, the Lynbrook Public Library staff will be down at the village pool for "Pool Side Story Times," during which librarians read books for children ages 3-7. No registration is required for this program but you must be a member of the pool to participate.

4 — In a little less than two weeks, the Lynbrook pool will play host for the annual Swim Across America event, a fundraiser to help find a cure for cancer. Patch will have some more information later today about this great community event.

5 — Quiznos held its grand reopening last Saturday. Village officials were on hand to mark the occasion, and our Patch photographer stopped by to document it. Patch will have the story later today.
