Concerned about the cuts recently proposed by your local school district, allegations of racial discrimination or other issues regarding your child's education? Well, tonight the Lakeview NAACP is holding a forum for community members to "speak-up" about these topics and more.

  1. Education Speak-Up: The Lakeview NAACP will be hosting a forum tonight for residents to voice their concerns about education in the community. They encourage everyone to attend and bring a friend, family member or neighbor. The program will begin at 6 p.m. at the Lakeview Public Library.
  2. Lost Dogs: A family in Franklin Square is still searching for their five-month-old puppy that was last scene Tuesday afternoon crossing Hempstead Avenue near St. Thomas the Apostle Chapel in West Hempstead. Meanwhile, another dog was found in West Hempstead Wednesday and is waiting at the Hempstead Town Animal Shelter for his owner to claim him.
  3. Hearts and Homes: Later today learn how students and teachers at Our Lady of Lourdes School in Malverne recently raised funds for a charity that helps orphans overseas.
  4. 'Sexy Suburbs': Hofstra University's Dean of Diversity Lawrence Levy will be speaking tonight at the West Hempstead Rotary's meeting at the Lantern Diner. His topic is "The Sexy Suburbs:Why You Matter in Politics, Policy and Economic Progress." Click here to learn more.
