Summer has officially started and Patch has found some great thing to do this weekend.

Soccer, parades and musicals are all up for grabs, and you won't have to go far to enjoy the excitement.

What: Free Soccer Clinic
Where: George Washington Elementary School, 347 William St. in West Hempstead
When: Saturday, June 25, 9–11 a.m.
Why Go: DV Soccer Academy is excited to take its soccer clinic into the West Hempstead community by offering a free of charge soccer clinic for the community in West Hempstead. The clinic will feature skills instruction from DV Soccer Academy founder Danilo Vittorato and trainers from his Academy and the West Hempstead Chiefs Soccer Club coaches and travel players.  Each child will learn soccer skills along with important traits such as teamwork, character, and sportsmanship.
Age: Boys and girls of all skill levels, ages 4-13

MALVERNE F.D. TURNS 100

What: Malverne Fire Department Centennial Parade
Where: Hempstead Avenue, Malverne
When: Saturday, June 25, 6 p.m.
Why Go:
Celebrate Malverne Fire Department’s century in existence with a colorful and fun parade. Please see notes for street closings.
Age: All
Cost: Free
Notes: Hempstead Avenue, along with streets off Aberdeen, Rolling and Lexington, will be closed to traffic and parking starting at 5 p.m. on Saturday. The fire trucks will stage in the side streets off of Aberdeen near Herber. The parade will then head down Aberdeen to Lexington, to Hempstead and then up into town. The fire trucks will then head up to Ocean around to Church and will be parked on Church Street at the end of the parade, so there will be no parking on Church.

MEMORABLE MUSICALS

What: Broadway Revue
Where:
Helene Fortunoff Theater, Monroe Lecture Center, Hofstra University (California Avenue)

COMPLETE STREET FAIR

What: Car Show and Street Fair
Where:
Village Avenue from Sunrise Highway to S. Centre Avenue, Rockville Centre
When:
Sunday, June 26, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Why Go:
The 16th Annual Street Fair, sponsored by the RVC Chamber of Commerce hosts it all, a car show, entertainment, craft and gift vendors, food and a bounce house for the kids.

EARLY JULY FOURTH

What: The Annual Independence Salute
Where:
Point Lookout Park on Lido Boulevard
When:
Saturday, June 25 at 7:30 p.m.
Why Go:
This evening at the beach honors local veterans with a ceremony and a party starring the band "Blood, Sweat and Tears" and a fireworks display put on by Bay Fireworks. There will also be a classic car and military vehicle display.

CLASSIC COVER SONGS

What: Music in the Bandshell
Where:
Jones Beach State Park Boardwalk, 1 Ocean Pkwy in Wantagh
When:
Saturday, June 25, at 7:30 p.m.
Why Go:
Jones Beach Boardwalk Bandshell and WCBSFM 101.1 present Greatest Hits Saturdays throughout June and July. Tribute bands playing the sounds of Billy Joel and Heart will take the stage, along with Motown favorites. Free parking can be found in Field 4.

What: Mothers of Malverne Community Yard Sale
Where: Joseph L. Landers Memorial Restoration Home, 369 Ocean Ave., Malverne
When: Saturday, June 25 (raindate Sunday, June 26) 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Why Go: The Mothers of Malverne is holding a huge community yard sale that will include finds from over a dozen local families.
