Jan. 26: A Winter Storm Watch and the History of the Theater in Lynbrook

Five things happening in the village on Wednesday.

More snow is headed to the Lynbrook area, but that's not the only thing happening in the village today. Here are five things to know about your hometown on Wednesday:

1 — Members of the Lynbrook Chamber of Commerce will be meeting at the Lynbrook Diner at 7:30 a.m. This is a free, largely non-formal networking session for both current and prospective Chamber members. You will have an opportunity to talk about your business and find out more about the Chamber.

2 — Home with the kids today? The Lynbrook Public Library is holding two events for young children. Baby Rhyme Time, for children ages 10 weeks to pre-walkers, will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Toddler Story Time, for children ages 2 1/2 to 3 1/2, is from 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Registration is required for both programs, and a caregiver must be during the events.

3 — A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for Wednesday night through Thursday morning, with 4-8 inches of snow expected, according to the National Weather Service. There may also be a messy mix of rain, snow and sleet during the afternoon today.

4 — Last week, village historian Art Mattson talked about past films and television shows that have had a connection to Lynbrook during the "Those Were the Days — A History of the Theater in Lynbrook" event at the Lynbrook Public Library. We'll be posting a story and photos from this event later today.

** UPDATE: Patch will run this story on Thursday, not Wednesday. **

5 — We'll be posting a new mystery photo later today. Be the first to correctly guess where it was taken and you could win a prize.
