Here's what you need to know for Jan. 27.

  1. More Snow! In case you haven't had enough of the white powder, more snow dropped on Malverne and West Hempstead last night - adding to the 3 inches that had already fallen Wednesday morning to give us a total of 14 inches. See how it will affect travel and school schedules. By now, all schools in Malverne, West Hempstead and Valley Stream District 13 have a snow day. to view the list.   2. Calm Before the Storm: While digging your car out of over a foot of snow can be a pain, it can be pretty - especially when we were only dealing with a few inches. these scenic shots from Hempstead Lake State Park taken Wednesday evening, when the area was still bracing for the bigger of two snowstorms. Patch will be out taking more photos today as residents cope with the snow, so be on the look out.
  3. Malverne Little League: One of the final sessions to register your child for is tonight. The sign-ups for Spring Baseball and Softball are scheduled to take place between 7pm and 9pm at . Patch will keep you updated if this event is canceled.
  4. Exercise in Faith: The Parish in West Hempstead's class is scheduled to meet at 7p.m. tonight. The program is designed for women and promotes a holistic approach to health through music, dance and prayer.   5. Basketball Clinic: The Long Island Panthers Basketball Clinic continues tonight at .The program started Jan. 6 and runs through Feb. 17 is for boys and girls in Grades 1 through 8. The sessions run from 7:30pm to 8:30pm. Patch will keep you informed if tonight's clinic is canceled.
