Five things to know for this Thursday in Malverne and West Hempstead.

On Aug. 1 residents in Malverne, West Hempstead and the rest of Nassau County will decide the fate of a proposed project to revamp the current Coliseum.

If you still have questions about the plan come out to the West Hempstead Rotary meeting tonight, where you can dine and hear from a speaker close to the project.

Here are your top headlines for July 28.

  1. Rotary Meeting: The Rotary of West Hempstead will hold a meeting tonight at 6 p.m. at Villa Umberto's in Elmont. A guest speaker will be discussing the project at Nassau Coliseum that residents will vote on Aug. 1. Dinner is included. Cost is $10 for members, $20 for non-members.
  2. Crime Watch: Find out exactly where burglaries, vandalism and other crimes happened in the neighborhood this week.
  3. Earth Show: Kids can learn ways to protect the environment today while being entertained at the "One Earth" Show at Echo Park. The free performance, featuring Kathy Byers and Lydia Adams Davis, takes place at 1:30 p.m. 
  4. Bond Update: The Malverne school district is making progress on the two bond propositions taxpayers approved in the fall to fix the athletic and elementary facilities. Find out more today.
