  1. Graduations: Malverne High School's Class of 2011 will toss their caps tonight as they celebrate their accomplishments and look ahead to the opportunities awaiting them in the future. West Hempstead will graduate its middle school students this morning and its seniors at a ceremony this Sunday.   2. Fire Drill Tournament: The Malverne Volunteer Fire Depatment kicks off the celebration of its 100-year anniversary tonight at 6 p.m. with an old-fashioned fire drill tournament in Rockville Centre. Three different battalions will compete and food and refreshments will be on hand. for details and don't miss on Saturday.
  3. American Idol Visit: the local teen who won over many hearts - including the celebrity judges on American Idol - during his stint as a contestant on the hit show will perform at an assembly today for Malverne students. Stay connected to Patch for coverage.
  4. Scaturro Challenges McCarthy: The early bird catches the worm, or so hopes Congressional hopeful Frank Scaturro, who is vying for Rep. Carolyn McCarthy's seat. Although the election is not until 2012, Scaturro began fundraising on Wednesday night in Rockville Centre for his campaign, one of the earliest starts in Nassau County's history.
