Lynbrook PTA Celebrates Founders’ Day

Seventeen people honored for service to district.

At their 2011 Founders’ Day Celebration, the Lynbrook PTAs honored 17 special faculty members, staff, and community members who have made significant
contributions of time, effort and expertise to benefit the children of Lynbrook schools. The theme of this year’s celebration was “A Symphony of Service.”

Of special note was the PTA Honorary Life Membership Award from the Lynbrook Council of PTAs to Gerard Beleckas, assistant superintendent for curriculum, instruction and assessment, for his tireless efforts on behalf of the children in the district. School board president Cathy Papandrew was honored with a Distinguished Service Award. North Middle School Media Specialist Pat Yosca was also the recipient of a Distinguished Service Award.

Honorary Life Membership Awards were given to Mary Ann Sconzo, Maria Madruga, Jeanne LaRocco, Amy Trotta, Kelle Barth, Carlos Jimenez, Robin Berman, Christopher Kozak, Veronica Cohen, Anne Vavilis Conway, Madeline Jabin, Stacey Kaplan, Lynn McMahon, and Nancy Gaetani.

Founders’ Day commemorates the founding of the National Congress of Mothers,
the precursor to the modern PTA.
