Malverne Remembers Four Lives Taken On 9/11

Village will hold candlelight vigil Sunday night in Reese Park.

Scott Bart, 28, was a newlywed. James Haran, 41, was about to celebrate his 20th wedding anniversary.

At 34, Jacqueline Donovan's, was "full of life" and at 50, Diane Urban, was just starting to enjoy the perks of living in suburbia, including being close to her family.

They all called Malverne their home and on 9/11, they were callously taken from their loved ones and their community.

To mark the 10th anniversary of the attacks and honor the lives lost that day, the village of Malverne will be holding a candelight vigil Sunday at 8 p.m. at the 9/11 memorial in Reese Park.

Mayor Patricia Norris McDonald encouraged residents to attend the ceremony, which has been held every year in the village since the attacks. .

"It's a very, very difficult time for these families, but I know in the past they have commented that coming to this candlelight ceremony has been helpful in the healing process,"she said,"...seeing so many residents come out to show their love and concern."
