  1. West Hempstead's Wonder Years: Ever wondered how West Hempstead got its name or what famous people have walked the streets of this community? Residents recently filled the West Hempstead Public Library to take a journey back in time to learn more about their hometown's history through a special presentation that included stories, photos and old video.   2. Malverne School Board: The board of education for the Malverne School District discussed several items at its March meeting including tenured teachers, budget workshops and changes to the Wellness Policy, which has come under criticism for its ban on home-baked goods. School officials also recognized a stellar science class, giving them the spotlight to showcase the work they have been doing to save wildlife.
